Come Up & See Me - Testimonials

The Band Members

  • Jem

    Jem - Vocals/Guitar

Jem has always been passionate about music, but it wasn't until he discovered Oasis in 1994 that he was inspired to learn to play guitar and start singing. Since then he has played in many bands featuring Jamie, Rob & Matt and many other talented musicians. His favourite bands/artists are The Stone Roses, Led Zeppelin, Paul Weller, Oasis, Kasabian, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Audioslave, Amy Winehouse, Ocean Colour Scene.

His biggest guitar influences are Jimmy Page, John Squire & Steve Cradock and vocal influences are Robert Plant, Paul Weller, Neil Diamond, Stevie Winwood & Steve Marriot - "If only I could actually sing as good as them".

Why does Jem love being in Come Up and See Me? "I've played in a fair few bands over the years and each of them have been great fun. But with Come Up and See Me, I am just blown away by the immense talent that Jamie, Rob & Matt possess. The chemistry between each of us is amazing. Nothing beats the feeling of playing for people and seeing them really enjoying what you're doing. I love the interaction with the audience and getting them involved with what we're doing and making them part of the show.

Being part of someone's special day and making sure everything is perfect is a big responsibility, but that just makes us play harder."

  • Jamie

    Jamie - Drums/Backing Vocals

Jamie was introduced to the drums at the age of 12, and after 19 years of playing, has built a style that undoubtedly attracts alot of attention and admiration from fellow musicians and audience members, and one that he is extremely proud of.

His dynamic and passionate approach to drumming takes from inspirational drummers of the last 50 years and includes to name a few, John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), Mitch Mitchell (Jimi Hendrix), Chad Smith (Red Hot Chilli Peppers), Taylor Hawkins (Foo Fighters), Steve White (Paul Weller) plus, plus, plus.

'From the early days of my drumming, I had a longing to be in an outstanding covers and originals band, and I am now fortunate to be in that position, and it has taken many years of playing, gigging, rehearsing, performing with many bands including covers, tribute and originals bands to have met the right people with the perfect chemistry'.

To describe the feeling amongst 'the band' from Jamie's perspective, it is 'Electric, we share a common bond that cannot be imitated, each member of the band is a master of their craft and super talented, it is a true pleasure to play with Jem, Rob & Matt, the buzz I experience when playing in 'Come Up and See Me' is very special and simply amazing'.

It's a great honor to be in a band and play in front of people, I love gigging and playing pubs, clubs, functions, it's the greatest feeling the world, and to be asked to be the entertainment for someones wedding, party, birthday, special occasion etc is just brilliant, and for me that's when each member of our band excels by playing, entertaining and enjoying themselves to a degree that our audiences have a fantastic and memorable time, surely, that's what playing in a band is all about, everyone buzzing and having a great time'.

  • Rob

    Rob - Bass/Backing Vocals

Rob is the quiet one of the band and is happy for the three showmen alongside him to take the limelight. "It's unusual to be able to get a word in when Jamie, in particular, has something to say. There's not much more I can add to what will have already been said. I'd like to regard myself as the glue that keeps this thing together but the truth is it really doesn't need it. I'm very fortunate to share a stage with three very exceptional musicians and individuals.

There's no doubt that, regardless of the talent within Come Up and See Me, the sum of the parts is greater than the whole. When we get together and play, something indefinable happens".

"It's a pleasure and a privilege to be able make someone's big occasion, whether it's a birthday, anniversary or their wedding day, even more memorable and special. Being slightly older than the others in the band, and having been fortunate enough to be exposed to a variety of music from a very young age, our repertoire feels like the soundtrack to my life. Every song evokes a memory, a time, a place. I'd like to think it has the same effect on everyone we play for".

  • Mat

    Matt - Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals

For Matt, music is all about emotion, and being fortunate to be part of Come Up and See Me, is a true honour, and allows him to express himself in the way he feels most comfortable.

First inspired to play guitar because of one ground breaking and prominent album, ‘Metallica's’ – 1991, ‘Black Album’ since then, the guitar has been his ultimate passion… Matt’s other musical influences span far and wide across the last 50 years.

Before ‘Come Up and See Me’, Matt played lead guitar in several Midlands based Rock & Indie Bands including: Naive, Unkle Monty, and East of the Sun, and it was during one of these Original Music Projects that Matt met Jamie and became involved in Come Up and See Me.

"Come Up and See Me are’ are a fantastic band, and an absolute pleasure to be part of, with such a solid and powerful rhythm section, I feel my part is made easier, and allows me to add my own creative and passionate lead guitar style to add the ‘icing on the cake’. Playing Live Gigs and Shows are an amazing experience, and since being part of Come up and See Me I have met some great people, had a lot of fun, and hopefully added to many people’s special occasions".
